- Shape Enhancements:
The following changes have been made to the shape engine:
Shapes will now fade in or out according to a cue's fade and delay times.
The Diamond can now sync the size, speed and phase of 2 shapes when fading from one to another.
It is now possible to create a shape across multiple fixtures and only change the properties (size, speed, phase) of some of those fixtures.
Shapes now adhere to LTP rules. When recording a shape, the shape will now continue to run until it is changed to a different value, just like Pan and Tilt, Colour etc. Shapes can be stopped by recording a zero size and speed for a shape.
Shapes also now have default speeds defined in the personality file.
- Showsafe Enhancements:
The Diamond now has extra communication with showsafe to update the showsafe screen with connection information.
The reliability of the show safe connection has also been vastly improved, and there is no longer the possibility
of the connection dropping after a few minutes as was previously the case.
- Hold and Release:
The Hold and Release feature is a new feature allowing the operator to set any attribute of a fixture which will stay at that value until they release it from hold.
The Hold and Release From Hold can be found in the @ menu. The @ menu is called by pressing the @ button next to the attribute wheel.
When pressing Hold the attribute for the selected fixtures is held at the value currently set by the programmer. It will stay at this value regardless of interaction from playbacks or the programmer until the Release From Hold is pressed.
Only the fixtures selected when pressing Release From Hold are released from hold.
- Update Function:
The update function updates a fired cue, with the changes contained in the programmer. The operator is informed of changes by an update screen with information on which cue and attribute is to be updated with which values. The screen is only displayed if there is anything to update. The update obeys the following rules:
A palette can only be replaced by another palette.
The cue must have been fired at the time of updating.
Only the fixtures selected will be updated.
The update screen has a filter facility where the content of the update screen is filtered by the search string entered, any item containing this string in any of its columns is displayed.
- Midi Output:
The midi output is intended to send midi triggers as single note output. This can be used to control a laser for instance.
Midi Output sends a single note when the cue is fired.
The midi output can be found under Soft key menu - Setup -> Midi Options. (Midi input is displayed on the left hand side of the menu, and the midi output is displayed on the right hand side of the menu)
The Midi Output must be enabled to work - this is indicated by a highlighted soft key "Disable Midi Output".
The soft key menu button "Assign Midi Note" takes the operator into the main midi output menu:
First, The operator selects a playback - this can be either a cue or a cue list.
When selecting a cue list the operator can browse through each individual cue with the navigation
buttons on the ride hand side of the menu.
On the left hand side of the Midi Output menu, the current setting is displayed for midi channel,
midi command (note on or note off), note number (what note),
and midi level (intensity). There is a selector where the midi note can be
enabled or disabled. When the operator changes any of these fields, this cue is enabled to send
a midi note when it is fired. The console remembers the last entered values.
The values displayed will be the actual value stored, or when disabled the
last value entered for this field.
- Autoload Enhancements:
It is now possible to set a specific cue within a playback to be autoloaded, so that when the parent cue is fired the autoloaded playback can start, for example, from cue 5. Also the autoload can now act as a go press on the cue list it's loading.
- Set Ethernet Address:
This feature allows the operator to set the ethernet address for tracking backup on the console, automatically. They can choose between an ethernet address starting with 2. or with 10.
This feature can be called via soft key menu - Setup -> Network Settings -> Apply Quick Nework Setting 2. or Apply Quick Network Setting 10.
The ethernet address is also now displayed on the main screen of the Diamond 4.
- Showfile Fixer:
The Diamond now has a showfile fixer in it. go to setup->repair show file(Softkey E). This creates a report file of changes in d4\report folder
- Re-Patching Crash:
Re-Patching a fixture without an intensity attribute caused the desk to crash.
(eg. The Coeamar Chameleon) This is now fixed.
- Palette Attributes:
If you switched off an attribute in a palette and then switched it back on again, it would not return. This is now fixed.
- DMX Outputs:
The DMX output dialog could cause a crash when continuous DMX changes were being ouput. (eg running a chase). This is now fixed.
- Active Fixture Patching:
Unable to patch an active fixture, delete and then repatch it. Attempts to repatch an existing active were blocked.
This is now fixed.

Chase speed stopped when chase speed was first set to a very high BPM then a very low BPM. This is now fixed.
- Tracking Backup Synchronising Issue:
Tracking backup console would sometimes get stuck with the message “Synchronising” on display,
this was caused by a network problem and it is now fixed.
- Midi Remote:
The midi remote was not enabled on startup. This is now fixed.
- Failure to shut down rule:
If the D4 is abruptly powered off, on the next startup a menu is presented offering the choice
of show files to load. If a decision is not made within 20 seconds then the last used show file
is loaded. The time delay is there to give the user the option to choose another show file
should the last used show file have developed a fault. Without this rule in place, the situation
could arise where the console fails to start up. To prevent the situation arising in the first
place, always use an uniterruptible power supply, UPS.
- Showfile Corruption:
This can occur when a faulty personality file is used, the problem has been fixed by
1) much tighter checking and
2) the introduciton of a show file fixer, see number 8 in the New Features section
- Forward Tracking:
Forward tracking did not work. This is now fixed.
- Stepping Through Chase With Link Off:
After creating a chase with global link set to "off", you could not use the swop button to fire the next cue. This is now fixed.

When changing pages, you could not 'kill by fader' on a heldover playback. This is now fixed.

- Manual Fader Playbacks:
Manual fader control of Cue Lists would not work when more than 1 manual Cue List was active. This is now fixed.
- Tracking Backup Connection:
When reading from the network the console could lose connection at random time intervals. This is now fixed
- Dipless Crossfading:
When using autoloads, if a cuelist autoloaded one cue then another containing the same fixtures,
it was possible that the intensities of those fixtures would dip. Crossfading between 2 cues using
autoload is now properly dipless.
- Flashing Crash:
If flashing quickly with a new dual core motherboard, the desk could crash. This is now fixed.
- Shapes In Chases:
When working with chases, you could not record the same shape accross multiple cues then
alter it slightly. it would record the same shape in each cue. This is now fixed.
- Fixture Exchange Crash:
Exchanging fixtures with more than 3 types of fixture patched caused the desk to crash.
This is now fixed.
- Updating Cues Live:
Record cue did not update a live cue. Now if you update a live cue, the update will occur
- Playbacks Not Firing:
Sometimes when raising a fader it did not trigger the playback to fire. This was very
sporadic, sometimes happening after pressing "stop all playbacks". This is now fixed.
- Timecode Takes Over Tracking Backup :
When using timecode you can't send manual controls to tracking backup. This is now fixed
- Stop All Playbacks Crash:
When using stop all playbacks the desk will sometimes crash. This is now Fixed.
- Display On Set Out Times:
The cue legend in set out times for a list was not updated when moving between cues.
This is now fixed.

- Shape Deletion Conformation:
When a shape is deleted it now displays a confirmation window.
- Fixture Exchange Selection:
The labels of the fixtures in the dropdown box did not match what was actually being
selected. This is now fixed.
- Group Selection and De-Selection:
It is possible to record Group 1 containing a set of fixtures and group 2 with a
subset of these fixtures. By selecting group 1 then group 2 then de-selecting group 1,
all fixtures were de-selected (even though group 2 remained selected).
Following this bug fix, fixtures in group 2 will remain selected, and those in group 1
will be unselected.
- Playback Options Issue:
Going back up from Playback Options to Set Times menu used to ask for the playback
to be selected again. This is now fixed
