The Download 2005 festival returned for its third year as a three day festival. Friday was an "indie day" and Saturday an "Ozzfest day" with around 100 bands over the three days.

The headline acts were Feeder (Friday), Black Sabbath (Saturday) and System of a Down (Sunday).
