| Avolites D4 Titan tours with The
Script’s LD Jamie Thompson. Co-designed with Bryan Leitch who has since retired, Lighting Director Jamie Thompson delivered a breathtaking show via a D4 Titan for The Script’s biggest hit album tour, Science and Faith. During The Script’s International tour, Avolites caught up with Thompson during their rehearsals at LH2 studios and again during their live performance at London’s Wembley Arena. Supplied by Siyan, Thompson’s console of choice was the Avolites D4 Titan. Thompson commented, “This Arena tour has been a dream to work on as there were very few restrictions. The smaller rigs tended to be more challenging as I then had to cut out the lesser ‘key’ aspects of the show.” He went on to say, “After two and half years with the band, it’s easy to understand the group’s goals and visually achieve their look without sacrificing too much.” |

| Throughout the tour, Thompson's benchmark rig came from 30 GLP impression LED fixtures, DL3’s, Mac 2000 washes, Varilite VL3000, VL1000 tungsten, 50 x molefay blinders, Pal colours, 12 Alpha 700s, Atomics, VL1K Tungstons and “heaps” of Jarags. “Budgets are always a constraint, especially for trying to bring the best design on various scales.” Thompson explains, ‘Trim height was an issue in some venues, but the rig was made to be modular so it could be easily compressed. Scaled down, without too much compromise.’ | ||

| Thompson employed the D4 Titan as he knew it was up to the task of withstanding the duration of the tour as well as giving the live interaction and intervention he needed for this high energy act. Thompson also went on to say, “Simple D4 Titan functions such as the double tap of the @ button to fully intensify the encoder wheels saves so much time.” However, on one occasion he also opted for a Pearl Expert Titan. Thompson continued, “The fact that you can seamlessly move shows is a remarkable feat.” | ||

| Aside from the gyroscope creation
by Metalman, Thompson took his design concepts from the album artwork. Inspired
by shades of rustic gold, Thompson transformed the stage with its triangular
truss, bringing Danny O'Donoghue, lead vocalist, into the crowd as well as
giving dimension to the stage. The Script are currently taking their show to the major UK festivals before hitting the American leg of the tour later this summer. |
